Hospitality is a basic human value that is essential to society, welfare and healthcare
Hospitaller values are a key element of our identity as an Institution. They demonstrate the originality of our activity and are a differential and valued feature of our Work.
The human values that, in our tradition, emerge from the Gospels, are assumed by all who are involved in our mission; they are embodied in every culture; they guide the decisions of our supervisors and inspire the conduct of each of our workers as they go about their work.
All of our values can be summarised in one: HOSPITALITY
Hospitality is a basic human value that is essential to society, welfare and healthcare. It involves offering space and time, attention and care, charity and resources to each of the beneficiaries of our mission.
This core value is embodied in the eight values that are inherent in it and which are paired as follows:
1. COMPASSION FOR THE EXCLUDED
Our hospitality demonstrates and encourages empathy, particularly for those who are excluded due to mental illness or disability.
2. SERVING THE SICK AND THE NEEDY
Everything in our organisation and all the people who are involved in it are here to serve the people we treat; they are our central focus.
3. LIBERATING HOSPITALITY
Our care is characterised by the warmth of our hospitality, which we offer patiently and voluntarily. We aim to provide the best possible rehabilitation and we care for our residents in a warm, home-like atmosphere.
4. COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE
We offer a holistic approach to healthcare, based on integral humanism. Our aim is to cure and provide care.
5. PROFESSIONAL QUALITY
We provide effective service based on professional rigour, efficient management, team work, adaptation of apparatus and ongoing refresher training for our professionals.
6. HUMANISING CARE
We seek humanisation, both explicitly and practically, in all our approaches and activities. Our care is envisaged as a human encounter that prioritises personal dignity.
7. ETHICS IN EVERYTHING WE DO
We set high standards as regards ethics, respecting the principles of bioethics and hospitality in everything we do.
8. HISTORIC CONSCIENCE
We promote an individual and group awareness of forming part of the Hospitaller history: faithful to its origins, we are the protagonists of its present and the builders of its future.
