“The Spirit of the Lord is with me…” (Lc4, 18-19)

With this Gospel passage with which our Constitutions begins, we have started the prayer of the first day of our Plenary sessions. With the title: Through the ways of enculturation, claves of a good plenary council.

In Rome from the 18 to the 24 of November 29 Sisters gather in the General house of the Congregation to discern the ways that the Lord wants us walk in hospitality. Read more

Sister Anabela Carneiro, General Superior, welcomed all the Sister with words of gratitude and hope. She states that we are starting the celebration of the XXIV Plenary Council at the end of the Jubilee year of Mercy. This is the time to look ahead with an open heart full of hope in the future which we live in the now. Read more

The Sisters of the General Council presented the following areas:

  • Sr Asuncion Riopedre informed us and helped us to reflect on the area of initial formation and the Josefinato, as well as in the geographical place where the formation centres are in the different realities of the Congregation. This was followed by a good dialogue.
  • Sister Rosalia Goni, presented the area of Civil and Canonical Legislation, the area of the Testaments of the Sisters concerning the legacies and what we inherit in relation to the vow of poverty
  • Sister Andrea Calvo talked on the different aspects of the international cooperation
  • In the afternoon, Brother Rudolf Knopp, brother of the Order of St John of God and a member of the European Commission together with Sister Andrea Calvo and Sister Begona Perez of Hospitality Europe, presented a general outlines of the work they are doing
  • Sister Lucia Castro presented a video on Vocation Apostolate which was filmed in Ciempozuelos and in which several Sisters of the Congregation from different realities participated
  • Finally, Sister Ester Berruete, showed us the importance of the different documents of the Congregation on the field of Organization and practice which can guide us in the work that is carried out in the Centres. She alerts us to the need to adapt them to the different realities in which we work.

We ended the first day with the celebration of the Eucharist and a time for a fraternal gathering after the evening meal. We give thanks to God and ask the intercession of our Founders to continue with the work we have started.
